Gallon per minute, or GPM, is a common water flow measurement used by many households and industries. This volume measurement is used for water hoses, sprinkler systems, and other fluid transfer systems. It is often compared to PSI, which measures pressure. GPM is a measure of the amount of water flowing over a specific time, while PSI measures how much pressure is exerted against a certain area.
Our GPM calculator converts a number of different flow rate units to help you find the perfect measurement for your situation. To do this, simply enter a number into one of the fields and click the corresponding unit to change it. For example, to convert from GPM to LPM, just enter the number of gallons per minute into the “Gallons” field and the calculator will automatically convert it to liters per minute.
GPM can be calculated by using a pressure tank, a bucket, or even your stopwatch. For the most precise measurements, use a one gallon container and time how long it takes to fill up. Once you have a reading, divide 60 by the number of seconds it took to fill up the container (60 / seconds = GPM).
The SI derived unit for volume flow rate is the cubic meter per second. This is equal to 15850.323074494 gallons per minute, or 60000 liters per minute. You can also convert to other SI units, such as the Cubic centimeter per second, Cubic foot per minute, Cubic inch per second, or Brutus thermus per hour. gpm to lpm
